My wife and I have lived in and near these 2 special "bioshpheres" in Ontario:

Compare the World Biosphere Reserve Niagara Escarpment shown above to the Carolinian Forest area south of a line between Sarnia and St Catharines bellow.

We visited the Backus Woods 7Mar20 before the vegetation turned green, but it is obvious how different biology is compared to the Bruce Peninsula. The Backus Woods provides habitat for 25 % of Canadian wildlife. It is the most biologically diverse areas of Canada and supports 60 species at risk. The soil there is sandy, whereas the Niagara Escarpment of the Bruce Peninsula is rocky with lots of crevasses.
